Girona Pursues Lazio’s Star Striker with a Second Offer

Girona has intensified its efforts to acquire Lazio’s promising striker, Valentin Castellanos, by submitting a second bid. The Spanish club, part of the City Group network, is on the lookout for a new center forward as they plan to transfer Artem Dovbyk, who has garnered interest from several European teams, including Napoli.

Earlier this summer, Girona made their initial move with a proposal valued at €12 million, plus an additional €3 million in performance-related bonuses, for Castellanos. The Argentine forward had a solid debut season in Rome, scoring six goals and assisting five times, catching the eye of various suitors.

According to reports from Il Messaggero, as conveyed by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Girona has not backed down and has recently upped their offer to approximately €15 million, including add-ons, for the 25-year-old striker. Despite this improved bid, Lazio has stood firm, rejecting the offer and setting their asking price at a minimum of €20 million.

Lazio’s reluctance to part ways with Castellanos stems from their belief in his potential. The club sees him as a key player who could evolve into a significant asset in Serie A. Given his performance in his first season, the Biancocelesti are optimistic about his future contributions and are not eager to let him go just yet.

Girona’s persistence highlights their determination to secure Castellanos as a vital addition to their squad. With Dovbyk’s impending departure, the Spanish team is keen to strengthen their attacking options and views Castellanos as a perfect fit for their plans. However, it remains to be seen if they can meet Lazio’s demands or if the Italian club will reconsider their stance on the striker’s sale.
