Spain’s Barcelona (AP) — The Spanish fashion firm Mango announced on Saturday that its founder, Isak Andic, had passed away following an accident. He was seventy-one. In an unspecified statement, Mango CEO Toni Ruiz said, “We regret to inform you of the untimely death of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday.”
Andic passed away after falling while trekking close to Barcelona, according to the Spanish news agency EFE and other media, including the newspaper La Vanguardia. Pedro Sánchez, the prime minister of Spain, honored Andic on social media, praising his “business vision and hard work that transformed a Spanish brand into a global fashion leader.”
At a young age, Andic’s family relocated from Turkey to Spain. He helped Mango become one of the top producers of quick fashion in Europe during the ensuing decades after opening the company’s first location in Barcelona in 1984. Mango is present in 120 regions worldwide with 2,700 outlets. Its 2023 sales of 3.1 billion euros ($3.2 billion) marked a company record. By the end of 2025, it hopes to have 65 locations in the United States, where it is currently growing.
