Two Britons are thought to be missing after a tourist boat sinks after being struck by a large wave.

Thirteen crew members and thirty-one visitors of various countries made up the 44 passengers on the Sea Story yacht. The governor of the Red Sea region stated that 28 individuals had been rescued and that authorities were looking for 16 people, including four Egyptians and 12 foreigners.

According to preliminary accounts, the ship was capsized within five minutes after being struck by a large wave. This was stated by Governor Amr Hanafi. “Some passengers were in their cabins, which is why they were unable to escape,” he said in a statement.

None of the individuals who were rescued required hospitalization; they just sustained minor wounds like scrapes and bruises. According to a representative for the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development office, “We are in contact with the local authorities and are providing consular support to a number of British nationals and their families following an incident in Egypt.” The 34-meter-long ship, which belonged to an Egyptian, was occupied by Americans, Belgians, British, Chinese, Finns, Germans, Irish, Poles, Slovakians, Spanish, and Swiss, among other foreigners. According to officials, Sea Story was recently inspected for naval safety in March, had no technical issues, and had all the necessary permissions prior to the journey.

According to officials, a distress call was received on Monday at 5:30 a.m. local time. The boat was expected to arrive at Hurghada Marina on November 29 after departing Port Ghalib in Marsa Alam on Sunday. The Red Sea Governorate said in a statement that the Sea Story was carrying forty-five persons. Image: Liveaboard Dive Pro.
