ARBELA TWP, MI — Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Tuscola County that claimed the lives of two people.
The crash occurred about 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, in the area of Bray and Birch Run roads in Arbela Township. Michigan State Police troopers responded to the scene to find a severely damaged 2009 Ford Fusion.
Troopers determined the Fusion had been southbound on Bray Road. The driver ran off the roadway and entered a ditch, causing the Fusion to overturn and strike a tree.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Mount Morris, and a 23-year-old Traverse City man riding as a passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two more passengers — a 22-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, both from Clio — were taken via helicopter to a local hospital.
Both suffered life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash, troopers said.
Troopers from the Caro Post and the MSP Third District Crash Reconstructionist are continuing to investigate the crash. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Vassar Police Department, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, Millington/Arbela Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response, and FlightCare.
