An elderly couple is dead after a crash this morning in Tyrrell County.
The crash happened on U.S. 64 about a mile west of the Alligator River Bridge around 8:00 a.m.
The Highway Patrol says the 82-year-old driver, Francis Ciossari, and his 80-year-old wife, Leigh, were killed.
Troopers say the Lake Lure couple’s car drifted across the centerline and struck an oncoming vehicle. The other driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
