Sadly, Children among victims of deadly crash on Hwy 11 in Pickens Co.

A head-on collision that occurred in northern Pickens County on Sunday afternoon resulted in three fatalities and three teenagers with critical injuries.

Following the incident, Megan Mullinax, 25, Kandice Broome, 14, and Furman Broome, 9, all succumbed to blunt force injuries. According to the coroner, the victims were connected and shared a residence in Greenville. At Lakeview Middle School, where she attended as an eighth grader, Kandice Broome participated in the band. Furman, her younger brother, participated in art while attending Monaview Elementary School in the fourth grade. Additional grief counselors are available at both schools to assist students in coping with their loss.

Mullinax and her two passengers were involved in an accident involving a 2011 Honda Pilot while she was operating a 1999 Honda Civic. The Honda Pilot’s 16-year-old driver and her two 13-year-old passengers were sent to Greenville Memorial Hospital after suffering critical injuries. The collision occurred on Sunday around 2:00 pm on Highway 11 in the vicinity of West Gate Road, not far from Table Rock State Park’s entrance. According to the Highway Patrol, the Honda Pilot SUV struck the Civic head-on after it crossed the middle line on Highway 11.
