DON DEAL: Black Bears re-sign two time FPHL Playoffs MVP for another…

BINGHAMTON, NY (WBNG) — The Black Bears have locked down the backbone of their Commission’s Cup Championship lineup from last season. On Friday, the team confirmed the re-signing of Gavin Yates, the two-time FPHL Playoff MVP.

Yates is a six-year FPHL veteran who has made over 100 regular-season appearances for the Black Bears and 14 postseason games. Yates was named Playoff MVP after leading the Black Bears to victory, scoring five goals and assisting ten times. It was the Watertown Wolves’ second MVP Playoff victory, following their first in 2018.

On Friday, October 11th, the Black Bears will open their Cup defense against Watertown in the North Country. The two teams move south the following night.

The Black Bears’ home opener is on Saturday, October 12th. The first game at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena begins at 7:00 p.m.
