LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) — A second man was arrested Friday in connection with the shooting death of a basketball player in the Buechel neighborhood of Louisville. According to Louisville Metro Police, Jeremiah Banks, 20, was charged with both murder and robbery in connection with the shooting death of Vincent Crutcher, 34. The shooting occurred just before 4:30 a.m. on June 23, 2022, on Heatherview Road near Breckenridge Lane, LMPD reported at the time. The victim, subsequently identified as Crutcher, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he passed away the following day. Crutcher’s family claimed he was killed while traveling to work.
LMPD said Banks was arrested Friday on South 18th Street in Louisville. He’s the second person to be charged with Crutcher’s death. Shortly after the shooting happened, LMPD arrested Charvontae Reed, 21, and charged him with first-degree assault and second-degree battery. He pleaded not guilty to those charges during an arraignment. He was later charged with complicity to murder and weapons charges.
