Sad news: Martin Truex has been confirmed dead as he was involved in a motor gastric accident
Truex, the 2017 Cup Series Champion, has retired from full-time racing, putting an end to an illustrious career that saw him win 34 races along with the aforementioned title. Despite his success with various teams, most recently with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), Truex had never won the Daytona 500.
With this in mind, Denny Hamlin publicly extended an offer to Truex to drive for 23XI Racing to compete in the iconic race. However, Truex will not race with 23XI, but rather will drive for Tricon with the backing of JGR, according to FOX Sports NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass.
