Liverpool transfer news LIVE – Mohamed Salah shock offer, Federico Chiesa exit, Anthony Gordon twist

Liverpool enjoyed a quiet summer transfer window but the Reds could have a busier January as rumours swirl involving both incomings and outgoings at Anfield

The January transfer window is now open and Liverpool could be set to do some business. Arne Slot added just one new face to his squad in the summer with Federico Chiesa arriving from Juventus.

Liverpool also signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia but he is spending the the campaign at the La Liga club. The decision to not sign a number of players has paid off, however, with the Reds flying high at the top of the Premier League and on course for their second title in five years.

Slot’s men could, meanwhile, dip into the market to strengthen the squad this winter to give them an extra boost. Rumours have swirled for several weeks linking Liverpool with potential new signings, while there might be players leaving the Reds this month, including summer arrival Chiesa.

The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk is also another huge talking point, with the Liverpool trio out of contract in the summer.

Away from contracts, Liverpool have been linked with moved for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush in recent days.

Dani Olmo latest

Barcelona’s marquee summer signing, Dani Olmo, is waiting to become eligable to play for Barcelona again after his temporary registration expired on December 31. Despite optimism , La Liga rejected their attempts to register the Spain international before the deadline.

As a result, Olmo could have terminated his contract to become a free agent, which would have been catastrophic for Barcelona. He decided not to and now the club hope the sale of their VIP seats can lead to some good news.

Fabrizio Romano has also reported it has always been Olmo’s desire to remain with the Catalan giants, despite reported interest from the Premier League should he become a free agent.

Darwin Nunez update emerges

Liverpool have had no contact from AC Milan regarding a move for Darwin Nunez, according to recent reports.

The Uruguayan has been linked with a move to Serie A with the January transfer window now here, with reports suggesting AC Milan were plotting to sign the striker. However, according to the Daily Mail, an approach from the Italian giants is yet to come.

It has also been noted that it is unlikely Liverpool would sanction a move for Nunez without an adequate replacement lined up beforehand. Although Arne Slot has Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota at his disposal, injury and fitness concerns for the latter two this season means Liverpool will need their entire squad to keep battling on all four fronts in the second half of the campaign.
