Dolphins announce QB decision ahead of season finale vs. Jets

The New York Jets know which quarterback they will face in their 2024 NFL season finale when the Miami Dolphins are in town.

Miami head coach Mike McDaniel was not definitive, but it likely will be backup Tyler Huntley under center in New York for the Week 18 clash:

According to Dolphins Wire, McDaniel said earlier this week that Huntley would likely be the one taking the majority of the first-team reps during practice. However, he did not rule starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out at that time.

Tagovailoa has been dealing with a hip injury but it was a surprise when he did not play in Miami’s outing against the Cleveland Browns last week. The Dolphins won that matchup 20-3 and Huntley started.

That win put Miami at an 8-8 record heading into the final week of the season. It also kept the Dolphins’ playoff hopes alive. Miami will need to win in New York then hope the Kansas City Chiefs can beat the Denver Broncos in order for the Dolphins to crack the postseason.

Because of that possibility, the Jets and Dolphins will play at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday in their finale instead of the 1 p.m. slot, which features most contests not having much say toward the playoff picture.
