Three dead, two injured after two-vehicle crash in Barton

Three people are dead and two others were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Tioga County, NY, Friday afternoon, according to information from New York State Police.

 

Around 1:26 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, a call came in for a head-on crash involving an SUV and a pick-up truck on state Route 34 in the town of Barton just north of Waverly, state police report.

It was found that the SUV was driving north on Route 34 when it crossed over into the other lane and hit the pick-up truck that was traveling south head-on. Four people were inside the SUV while one person was inside the pick-up truck, state police said.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 68-year-old man from Athens, PA, was declared dead at the scene along with a 41-year-old male from the Bronx who was sitting in the backseat of the SUV. The second backseat passenger, a 38-year-old female from the Bronx, later died at the hospital.

 

The driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old female from the Bronx was taken to the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre in critical condition. The front passenger of the SUV, a 56-year-old male from the Bronx was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
