THP: 1 killed, 3 injured in crash on Asheville Highway

Tenn. (WJHL) — One person was killed and three were injured in a crash Wednesday morning in Greene County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

The crash happened around 6:10 a.m. on Asheville Highway.

According to a preliminary crash report by the THP, a Mercury Grand Marquis traveling north on Asheville slowed to turn onto Cove Creek Road when it was rear-ended by a Ford F-150. The crash caused the Mercury to enter the opposite lane where it was hit head-on by a southbound Chevrolet Silverado.

 

The driver of the Mercury, identified as Bonita G. Metcalf, 67, was killed, according to the report.

 

Three people in the Chevrolet were reportedly injured.

 

Charges are pending against the driver of the Ford, according to the THP.
