At least 29 people were killed after a boat carrying 84 migrants capsized in the Canary Islands overnight, according to Spain’s maritime rescue service at early hours of today.
7 were rescued by Spain’s rescue service after Tenerife’s rescue center got an emergency call from one of the boat’s occupants overnight. Additionally, nine bodies were found in the sea. Closed-door marketing When the migrants hurried to one side of the boat, the rescue service reported that the boat overturned just after midnight four miles off El Herrio, one of the islands that comprise the Canaries. However, the darkness and wind gusts of around 20 knots hindered the search.
Helicopters and rescue boats have been looking for the 48 missing migrants throughout the day.
