Reuters, Amsterdam, December 11 Following an explosion at an apartment building in The Hague that left six people dead and four injured, Dutch police said on Wednesday morning that they had arrested three persons. The origin of Saturday’s explosion, which destroyed other nearby structures and led the apartment building to fall, is being investigated criminally in the residential neighborhood of a The Hague suburb. Although they provided no other information, the police said that the three individuals detained late Monday may have been involved in the explosion.
A number of vehicles have been seized in the wake of the incident. It was unclear, according to the police, if any of the cars were the ones that witnesses claimed to have seen leaving the scene quickly before the explosion. A few hours after a sixth body was discovered in the debris, rescue crews called off their search for victims on Monday afternoon. There are no signs that the explosion was caused by a gas leak, the gas grid provider Stedin informed Dutch news agency ANP on Tuesday. The notion that one of the structures housed a narcotics lab has been ruled out by the police.
