Real Madrid’s defensive crisis has been resolved internally. In place of Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Aurelien Tchouameni, 21-year-old Asencio has stepped up and performed admirably.
The young player made his debut in that crucial 4-0 victory over Osasuna, where Militao sustained his second ACL injury in as many seasons. He had begun the season with Castilla, the reserve team.
Asencio has since improved greatly, playing the entire ninety minutes against Liverpool in the Champions League and in the La Liga victories over Getafe and Leganes.
The Los Blancos managers have forgotten about their injury crisis because Asencio is already high up in the defensive hierarchy and Jesus Vallejo is totally out of favor.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager, has acknowledged that club officials have informed him that he will not be receiving reinforcements in January. However, Real Madrid will address the issue by offering Asencio a new contract that represents his increased value to the starting lineup.
The Spanish champions are’very delighted with his influence’ and are ‘planning’ to present an offer for a new contract, at least according to Fabrizio Romano. The defender will receive a wage increase and a long-term contract from Real Madrid.
The La Liga giants will make sure he stays put when his current contract expires in 2026. After an outstanding loan at Alaves, Real Madrid sold young center-back Rafa Marin to Napoli in the summer. They are now moving swiftly to ensure that they have enough bodies at the club moving forward, possibly realizing their error.
