The pilot killed in a plane crash in Wayne County Monday morning was identified as Charles Finck, 79, of Elk River, Minnesota.
The plane crashed about seven miles north and three miles west of Wayne, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said. According to registry information from the FAA, the plane that crashed near Wayne was owned by Finck.
The crash happened just after another fatal plane crash in Knox County.
The Knox County crash happened around 9:30 a.m., about four miles southwest of Crofton.
Nebraska State Patrol troopers, first responders, and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, where the pilot and sole occupant of the plane, Joseph Rudloff, 73, of Norfolk, was pronounced dead.
Troopers deployed drones to survey both crash scenes as part of the ongoing investigations. The National Transportation Safety Board was contacted and is investigating both crashes.
