24-year-old Taunton woman killed when Infiniti rear ends tractor trailer, DA says

TAUNTON — A 24-year-old Taunton woman died Sunday morning when a vehicle she was a passenger in collided with the rear of a tractor trailer on Route 44 in Taunton, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Sunday afternoon.

The victim has has been identified as Mallory Humphreys, the DA’s office said in the written statement Sunday.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was a passenger in a gray 2015 Infinity driven by a 27-year-old Fall River man, the DA’s office said.

The Infiniti was heading east on Route 44 about 1:24 a.m. when it rear-ended a tractor trailer that was also heading east, the DA’s office said.

The crash occurred in the area of 608 Winthrop St. (Route 44), the DA’s office said.

The driver of the Infiniti was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the DA’s office said.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 39-year-old Brockton man, was uninjured, the DA’s office said.

Humphreys was declared dead at the scene, the DA’s office said.

The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Taunton Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
