Esperance teenager dead after car rollover – boy in boot survived

A horrific car crash in Esperance has left an 18-year-old man dead and a 14-year-old girl with serious injuries.

 

Three other teenagers in the car survived the crash and rollover – and one of them was in the boot of the Mazda 121.

 

Police say that around 2am on Saturday the Mazda was being driven on the Pink Lake salt flats near Collier Road.

 

The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times coming to rest on the passenger side.

 

The 18-year-old who died was in the back of the car with a 14-year-old girl. They were thrown from the seat when the vehicle rolled. Neither of them were wearing seat belts.

The 17-year-old male driver, a 13-year-old girl in the front passenger seat and an 18-year-old male in the boot of the car escaped the crash without injuries.
