7 dead, 1 injured in fiery North Carolina highway crash

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reports that a three-vehicle car collision last week claimed the lives of seven employees of a dessert firm and injured another motorist. The collision occurred approximately 44 miles southwest of Fayetteville on North Carolina Highway 711 at 6:02 p.m. on Thursday.

A news report from the North Carolina State interstate Patrol stated that a third vehicle was heading east on the interstate, while the first two were heading west. The first car included seven employees of the dessert company. The motorist struck a third car and sideswiped the second while attempting to pass. After that, the driver pulled off the highway and came to a stop in a marsh. According to the NCSHP, the car caught fire and three people were ejected.

According to the agency, John Hinston Dial, a 25-year-old guy, was operating the third car when he pulled off the highway before his car came to a stop in the marsh close to the first car. Dial sustained severe injuries that were not life-threatening. For treatment, he was brought to a nearby hospital.

Authorities identify victims of auto accidents The seven individuals who perished that day were employed by Dessert Holdings, one of the town’s industrial businesses, according to confirmation provided by Tyler Thomas, the town manager of Pembroke, to USA TODAY on Wednesday morning.

Fednie Eloy, 29

Orel Cacecus, 37

The agency said it is not sure if the crash victims had their seat belts on or were impaired, but for the first vehicle that sideswiped another car, speed may have led to the crash.
