KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A driver is facing multiple charges after two women and an unborn child were killed in a head on-collision on Friday.

 

Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Raccoon Valley Road and Hausmond Way around 6 p.m. When crews arrived, they found two vehicles that had crashed head-on with five people injured.

 

 

Several people were trapped and had to be cut from the wreckage. All occupants were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

 

According to court records, investigators believe an eastbound Nissan Sentra crossed over into the westbound lanes and struck a Ford ExpeditionThe only passenger in the Sentra, a pregnant woman, was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center around 7:30 p.m. Friday. A woman who was an occupant of the Ford Expedition was pronounced dead on the morning of June 22Court records show that witnesses reported seeing a tan Nissan Sentra driving in a reckless manner and passing other vehicles on a double yellow line. A drug recognition expert trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that Jones had bloodshot, watery eyes and admitted that he smoked marijuana every day.
