Man driving a stolen automobile as he flees Yosemite has a crazy trip before crashing in the mountains, according to CHP

Following a bizarre series of events that began in Yosemite in an allegedly stolen car and culminated in a crash in another stolen vehicle around 20 miles south of the national park, a 40-year-old man from Los Angeles was taken into custody on Wednesday. The Kia Soul was being pursued by park rangers inside the national park, prompting the California Highway Patrol in Oakhurst to issue a “be on the lookout” alert at 2:41 on Wednesday. According to CHP, the motorist had been driving erratically throughout the park, even hurling beer cans out the window. Officers soon received reports that a Kia had crashed in Fish Camp on White Chief Mountain Road close to Tenaya Lodge, approximately three miles south of the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park.

After reportedly robbing a Kia Optima at Tenaya Lodge, the man escaped on Highway 41 once more, this time heading roughly 15 miles south to the mountain town of Oakhurst. At that point, a Tesla sedan gently approached the Optima that was traveling on the highway’s right-hand shoulder. The driver of the Kia accelerated and started purposefully smashing into the back of the Tesla as it passed, according to CHP. The driver of the Kia persisted in purposefully crashing into the backs of the Tesla as it passed through the town, despite the Tesla’s best efforts to break free. CHP reported that the crazy sequence was recorded by the Tesla’s cameras. After being made aware of the circumstance, a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office deputy intercepted

When the deputy turned on his lights and siren, the driver of the Kia began to pursue him. Eventually, he drove into a fence at Maddie Fhy Road and was apprehended. According to CHP, he was taken into Mariposa County jail on many offenses. In July, there was another incident involving a man from La Habra, California, who fled Yosemite after an incident involving reckless driving and was killed in a crash on Highway 41. Four occupants of two other vehicles were also injured in the head-on collision close to the Road 222 turnoff to Bass Lake.
