Heathrow and Gatwick airport delays see thousands of passengers affected

Two days into the delay period, Heathrow and Gatwick airports are now experiencing delays. After a challenging day for travelers yesterday as a result of staffing issues with Air Traffic Control (ATC), accusations have already begun. On a busy day for flights at the end of the school holidays, over 100 flights were delayed or canceled, affecting thousands of passengers and leaving some stuck overseas.

The chief of ATC provider Nats was so angry about it that Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary demanded that he resign or be fired. Passengers traveling to Edinburgh and Glasgow on the TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast have been stuck in coaches for hours due to a malfunctioning train that is obstructing the railway line between Lockerbie and Carlisle.
