NASCAR rumors: Alex Bowman spark concern with harsh warninga bout future with Hendrick Motorsports

Rumors are common throughout silly season, and one about Alex Bowman’s potential future in the NASCAR Cup Series is presently circulating. Hendrick Motorsports has signed Bowman through at least the 2025 season, but he hasn’t lived up to the high expectations of the organization, particularly in the No. 48 Chevrolet that was formerly driven by seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson. But in July, Bowman ended an eighty-race losing streak at the Chicago Street Race. You would think that would have given him more time at Hendrick, but he hasn’t performed well in the aftermath of that win.

Five races in a row, Bowman has finished outside the top-15 after finishing in P3 at Pocono. This covers P31, P28, and P27 finishes. With just five playoff points to his name going into the postseason, Bowman, 31, may not have long to stay in the league. Brett Griffin, a NASCAR spotter and host of “Door Bumper Clear,” thinks Bowman might lose his job at Hendrick if that turns out to be the truth.

“Alex Bowman is out, and if he’s out in the first round, he might not be out for the entire postseason,” stated Griffin. The No. 23 team’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, added, “There’s a reason they haven’t announced any drivers in certain cars yet.” Bubba Wallace follows suit. In response to Griffin and Kraft’s comments, Austin Konenski of Motorsports Wire said, “It has certainly made rounds for a few weeks now…we’ll see what happens with Spire Motorsports and other NASCAR teams.” Even after his victory in Chicago, Bowman appears like he “can’t afford many hiccups,” according to an earlier statement from FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass.
