Arkansas football report: South Alabama transfer Marquise Robinson looks to replicate ’23 result in Stillwater

Marquise Robinson, an Arkansas cornerback, will be attending Oklahoma State for the second time in two years after his South Alabama squad stunned the Cowboys 33-7 in Week 3 of the previous season. On the opening play of the second quarter, Robinson—nicknamed “Cuddie”—intercepted an Alan Bowman pass and returned it 24 yards to the Oklahoma State 17. After leading 16-0 after the next play, the Jaguars increased their lead to 23-0 at halftime. During training camp, Robinson—who also recorded two tackles in the upset—talked about some of the Hogs’ preparations for Week 2.

Late in camp, Robinson remarked, “I was telling them all in meetings earlier, I was like, ‘Hey, they line up like that and this is going to come.'” “So we’re watching a movie, and I tell you, ‘They’re going to do that right now.'” And one thing I appreciate about this DB group is that everyone is listening and has unique qualities. Robinson was asked to recollect his memories of South Alabama’s victory at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He said, “My first thought when I think back on that game is that I should have scored.” That is the initial point. However, the second item is essentially just returning for an additional year with the knowledge that, well, they know Cuddie is returning.

Stat assault The Razorbacks are ranked well in several categories on both sides of the field, which makes sense after they defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-0. Arkansas is ranked No. 3 in scoring (70.0 points per game), No. 4 in total offense (687 yards), No. 9 in passing (408 yards), No. 17 in rushing (279 yards), No. 7 in first downs (34), No. 32 in passing efficiency (186.14), and tied for first in red zone offense (1.000) among the top offensive categories. On defense, the Razorbacks are tied for first place in red-zone defense (.000) and scoring allowed (0.0), second in rushing (7 yards allowed), fifth in total defense (130 yards allowed), and sixth in rushing (7 yards allowed).
