A deadly collision that occurred on Interstate 75 this morning is being looked into by Chattanooga Police (CPD). CPD was called to a multi-vehicle accident on I-75 at 2:11 a.m. Officers discovered two drivers and a little passenger with potentially fatal injuries when they arrived.
Hamilton County EMS found both drivers dead at the site, and they took the youngster to a nearby hospital. The Traffic Unit of the CPD arrived on the site to start an investigation. Based on preliminary data, a driver driving a Nissan Sentra was driving southward in the northbound lanes of I-75, which is against the law. A Honda Accord driven by the other motorist was moving north. The Nissan struck the Honda squarely in the face.
A tractor-trailer struck the Honda as a result of the Honda spinning out. There were no injuries to the tractor trailer’s driver. The probe is still in its early stages and could evolve as it goes on.
