Seward Highway back open after brief closure to crash with ‘serious’ injuries and dead bodies near Portage

On Tuesday afternoon, a significant collision momentarily blocked traffic on the Seward Highway in both directions close to Portage. After the crash closed the road almost one hour earlier, both lanes were restored, according to Anchorage police at 4:50 p.m. At 4:12 p.m., police first alerted drivers to the situation, referring to it as a “serious injury accident.”
