Good news: Louisville is reopen

Dollywood is reopen after a flash flood hit the theme park in Tennessee, causing one minor injury and significant damage ¹. The park was closed on Sunday, July 28, due to torrential rain and flash flooding, but it reopened on Monday, July 29, at noon ².

 

The flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service office in Morristown, Tennessee, after 2.5 inches of rain fell in one hour and 4 inches in total fell across the Pigeon Forge area ¹. The flooding caused water to cover walkways and parking lots, and several shops within the amusement park were also flooded ¹.

 

Visitors were escorted to safety with the help of the Pigeon Forge Fire and Police Departments, and Dollywood officials released a statement saying that one minor injury was reported ¹ ². The park officials also stated that they would support guests whose vehicles were affected by the weather event and that cleanup crews had been deployed ¹ ².
