Dolly Parton is a treasure to the country. Through her Dolly’s Imagination Library, she has given more than 120 million free books to children all around the world. She worked as an uncredited producer on both the TV show and movie “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” In fact, a cloned sheep bears her name. That’s not counting the hits that helped her become well-known, such “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.” A trip to Dollywood is a must if you enjoy theme parks.
Crowds are inevitable at Parton’s theme park, which debuted in 1961 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Fortunately, there are workarounds for that. Not only is there a calendar that can help you predict when it will be crowded, but we also have advice on when to visit. This includes in the middle of the week, late at night, and after lunch, though the exact times may vary depending on the season. Holidays during the months of March, June, and July should also be avoided.

Sundays tend to be better than Saturdays since people depart early in order to get home in time for the next workweek.
Additionally useful is the time of your visit. Arriving early in the morning is highly recommended, as there is a significant rush admission period between opening at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. People are leaving in order to beat the rush of those leaving in the final hour before closing. With typical highs in the mid-to-high 70s until June, when it surges to the mid-80s, spring is a great time to visit if the weather worries you. April is also thought to be a nice month; however, given it’s theme park season, make sure to verify the local schools’ spring break schedules. Children’s summer break usually means busy times, especially in the middle of the summer.
