Stance Car Meet Event with Drifting and Racing | Car Parking …

Opposition councillors are “extremely unhappy” that a long-awaited update on the Powys County Council car park review has been cancelled. A report on the contentious review was scheduled to be presented to councillors during the council’s Economy, Residents, and Communities scrutiny committee meeting tomorrow (Friday). However, the meeting has been cancelled. The Liberal Democrat/Labour/Green administration hiked car parking costs as part of the 2023/2024 budget, which took effect in April of last year.

A year ago, Powys Independents councillors Graham Breeze and Gareth E Jones, who were in different political groups at the time, banded together to propose a motion to the council to reconsider the rise. This was due to the council’s conviction that the price increase would generate more revenue than anticipated. The resolution was withdrawn at the meeting on July 20, 2023, when cabinet member for highways and transport, Liberal Democrat Cllr Charlton, informed councillors that it “gave her great pleasure” to affirm that a vehicle parking review would take place. However, little has come from the review since then.
