Kobe Bryant is widely celebrated as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, inspiring countless individuals both within and outside the NBA. Among his admirers is Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, a notable fan of the Los Angeles Lakers legend, despite their teams being arch-rivals.

Tatum has always openly expressed his deep admiration for Bryant. He had the chance to train with Kobe one summer, adopting many of his techniques and integrating them into his own game. While debates over the greatest basketball player typically focus on Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Tatum firmly believes Kobe belongs in that conversation.

During a recent appearance on “Inside the NBA” on TNT, Tatum was asked what makes Kobe Bryant his Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Tatum highlighted the profound inspiration he drew from Bryant’s extraordinary work ethic and his ability to motivate people around the globe. Tatum said, “For me, it’s the inspiration thing. The way he inspired people. The way he inspired somebody that was 2,000 miles away that I had never met. Just watching him on TV, watching his interviews, watching how hard he worked, the ups and downs of his career. From 2,000 miles away me seeing myself in him. Wanting to achieve my dream and chase my goal and work as hard as I did because he did those things. How many kids and how many people he inspired throughout the world. And not to say the other best players didn’t, but for me the inspiration factor is the biggest reason why I’m here today.”

Many who played or trained with Bryant have stories about his relentless drive and dedication. This relentless pursuit of excellence has motivated not only basketball players but individuals in various fields. For Tatum, Bryant’s influence was the catalyst that propelled him toward his own aspirations of greatness.

Kobe Bryant’s legacy endures, embodied by players like Tatum who mirror his spirit and determination. Bryant’s legendary status as a Lakers icon remains, living on through those who continue to draw inspiration from his remarkable career and mindset.

In a related note, Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray recently channeled his inner Kobe by taking 44 shots in a game. Afterward, he expressed that while he doesn’t typically aim to shoot that much, he believes Kobe would be proud of his determination to secure the win. This sentiment echoes the unyielding confidence and effort that Bryant was known for throughout his career.
