Golden State Warriors Evaluate DJ Rodman Ahead of NBA Draft

As the 2024 NBA Draft approaches on June 26, teams are busy assessing potential talent through pre-draft workouts. The Golden State Warriors recently evaluated DJ Rodman, a standout player from the University of Southern California (USC). DJ Rodman, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, participated in a pre-draft session with the Warriors, showcasing his skills and potential.

Rodman, a 6-foot-5 forward, played his first three collegiate seasons at Washington State before transferring to USC for his final year. During his time at Washington State, he developed a reputation as a reliable player, which he solidified at USC. In his final two years, he averaged 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, with an impressive 37.2% shooting accuracy from beyond the arc.

In his senior year at USC, Rodman maintained solid performance metrics, averaging 8.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 44.0% from the field and 36.2% from three-point range over 32 games. His contributions on both ends of the court have made him a prospect worth watching.

The Warriors hold the 52nd pick in this year’s draft. They have a history of finding value in later picks, as demonstrated by last year’s selections of Brandin Podziemski (19th overall) and Trayce Jackson-Davis (57th overall), both of whom exceeded expectations. This success reinforces the Warriors’ confidence in their scouting and development processes.

Despite being one of the league’s top franchises, the Warriors ended the 2023-24 season with a 46-36 record, finishing tenth in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, their season concluded in disappointment as they fell to the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament, marking their third playoff absence in five years.

The evaluation of DJ Rodman highlights the Warriors’ continued effort to build a competitive roster. As they prepare for the upcoming draft, the team hopes to uncover another hidden gem that can contribute to their pursuit of future championships.
