Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll showcased his prowess with three hits and two runs, including the decisive go-ahead point, leading the team to a 4-3 triumph over the San Diego Padres.

In a nail-biting seventh inning, Carroll’s powerful double off the right field wall, clocking at 106 mph, broke the tie, setting the stage for Ketel Marte to drive him in with a timely hit to left field.

The victory, buoyed by Ryan Thompson’s clutch pitching in the eighth and Paul Sewald’s game-ending strikeout, marked the D-backs’ fifth win in six games, positioning them just behind the Padres for the third wild card spot.

Reflecting on the team’s recent success, Marte emphasized the unity and shared vision driving their performance, stating, “We’re always on the same page; we know what kind of team we are.”

Carroll’s stellar performance wasn’t just about the game-winning hit; it was a testament to his resilience and determination. Despite recent struggles at the plate, his ability to consistently make solid contact signals a potential turning point in his season.

Assistant general manager Mike Fitzgerald noted Carroll’s improved consistency, highlighting the importance of maintaining high standards in performance.

While Eugenio Suarez and Gabriel Moreno ignited the offense with back-to-back homers, the game’s narrative was shaped by defensive prowess, including standout plays by Moreno and a pivotal pickoff by Slade Cecconi.

Manager Torey Lovullo echoed the team’s grit and determination, emphasizing their ability to persevere and secure crucial victories.

Looking ahead, the Diamondbacks are poised to continue their momentum in the series against the Padres, with Brandon Pfaadt set to take the mound in the next game.
