BREAKING: John Carlos after celebrating his 79 years birthday, he was confirmed dead

For the first time since costing GB Olympic silver, doper CJ Ujah is back. After testing positive for two banned substances at Tokyo 2020, Sprinter earned a 22-month penalty; he was cleared of purposeful doping.

At the European Athletics Championship in Rome on Friday, CJ Ujah, who cost Great Britain an Olympic silver medal due to a failed drug test, will compete in his first big international competition. After Jeremiah Azu withdrew from the team, Ujah, who had earlier declared himself unavailable for these championships, was named in the squad on Thursday for the men’s 100-meter race and the 4×100-meter relay.

Three years prior, Ujah’s teammate Richard Kilty had expressed his inability to overlook Ujah’s actions, calling them “sloppy” and “reckless,” during the British team’s 4x100m silver medal run that ended in medal loss. After it was discovered that the positive test was accidentally produced by a tainted amino acid that was purchased on Amazon, Ujah received a 22-month ban and issued an apology to his teammates. Following some strong early-season results, UK Athletics CEO Jack Buckner decided it was preferable to face a “very difficult” issue early in this Olympic year, which led to the 30-year-old being added back to the team in the spring.
