Guard Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces easily scored a basket after snatching the ball away from Indiana Fever top choice Caitlin Clark in the centre of the court. There were six minutes left in the second quarter of the game that took place at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Clark moved the ball up the floor again on the Fever’s subsequent possession before committing her fourth turnover.

Although the Aces couldn’t score in return, it was clear what was about to happen. Young drove up beyond the arc and hit her second three-pointer in just two minutes, giving Las Vegas a two-point advantage, 52 seconds later. In the final seven minutes before halftime, the Aces outscored the Fever 17-6, and they went on to win 99-80. The Fever were limited to 10 points in the second quarter. After the game, Fever forward Aliyah Boston remarked, “I mean, it’s hard being on the road like this and playing the teams that we have.” But because we’ve had these difficult games to begin the season—where we’re still figuring things out—by the end, or even in the middle of the season, we’ll be ready for what lies ahead.
