While on Offseason, 49ers Are Reportedly Re-Signing Jauan Jennings in This Summ…

The San Francisco 49ers feel very good about their 2024 Draft selections, having secured the bulk of their squad for the upcoming season and beyond. The fundamental question is whether or not they made the proper decisions. Amil Fragoso and Nate Littlefield provide a summary of the 49ers’ 2024 NFL Draft on the most recent episode of the Return of the Empire podcast. The guys discuss each of the eight Red & Gold picks, including who came as a surprise and how well each athlete fit into the team. Will any newcomers also have an immediate impact for a Super Bowl run the following season? On the Return of the Empire, all of that and much more.

Reviews of the 49ers draft were varied, with some positive and some negative. However, running back Isaac Guerendo was the selection that almost all observers thought was badWhen asked about the 49ers’ most recent draft selections, former general manager Scot McCloughan was recently interviewed by The Athletic, and he largely had good things to say about them. Well, except in the case of Guerendo.
However, the 49ers acquired Guerendo by trading up in Round 4, most likely to play running back eventually. Given that he weighs 220 pounds and has a 4.33 yard time, he appears to be built to play running back based on his performance at the NFL Scouting Combine.Guerendo, however, carried the ball just 99 times in his four seasons at Wisconsin, making him all but inconsequential. After moving to Louisville in 2023, he eventually enjoyed a breakthrough season with 132 carries, 810 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Thus, he can be a late bloomer. It’s also conceivable that he suffered at Wisconsin and will struggle with the 49ers in a similar manner, having played against a lot of younger football players in the previous season.
