Parrish said on Tuesday that he will use the NCAA transfer portal, raising the obvious question of whether or not he could return to Ole Miss.The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) rewarded Ole Miss senior guard Matthew Murrell with a berth on the All-District Second Team, the NABC office announced on Tuesday.
District 20 of the NABC, which includes all 14 of the SEC’s current clubs, is home to Ole Miss. Tolu Smith III of Mississippi State, Walter Clayton Jr. of Florida, Zyon Pullin of Florida, and Jonas Aidoo of Tennessee round out the district’s second team, along with Murrell.
Murrell, a gifted defender and effective scorer, led Ole Miss in steals per game this season with 1.6 and led the Rebels in scoring for the second straight season with 16.2 points per game. He finished the 2023–24 season with a field goal percentage of 46.4 percent and sixth in the SEC with 2.4 made three-pointers per game.
Murrell finished the previous season ranked 16th in career points (1,444) and became the 42nd player to score 1,000 points in Ole Miss history during non-conference play. The native of Memphis, Tennessee, made 218 connections from three games as a Rebel, which is the fifth-most in program history.
Murrell just earned a position on the Coaches All-SEC squads for his efforts this year, and now he adds NABC All-District accolades to his record.
