Red Sox Officially Signed a $85 million Trade Deal With 25-Year-Old QB, While on Free Agency.

In order to strengthen the squad going forward, the Boston Red Sox have stated that they are dedicated to developing a new core of homegrown players.

With the latest extension of pitcher Brayan Bello, 24, they’ve begun to deliver on that promise. However, there’s another excellent applicant who’s just waiting to start a conversation with the front desk about an extension.

Hopefully, Triston Casas will have another excellent season in 2024 after having a breakout season with the Red Sox in 2023. Casas has been referred to as the team’s offseason “MVP” by Boston manager Alex Cora because of his contributions both on and off the field.

Casas has indicated that he would like to play for the Red Sox “forever,” and the two teams have talked about the possibilities of a deal. Casas has shown interest in a contract extension. But the conversation hasn’t gone very far, Casas told reporters at the Red Sox’s Dominican Republic Series games. Money hasn’t come up in conversation yet.

Many supporters believe Boston ought to postpone giving Casas a contract extension. After a somewhat sluggish start to the season, he really came into his own in the second half. Before things become serious, some would prefer to see the first baseman be consistent for an extended period of time. Casas likely to agree as well.

“I don’t think I’ve earned a contract extension,” he told Boston.com’s Conor Ryan. “I don’t think I’ve created a game that is worthy of a long-term contract or extension. Therefore, I won’t be angry with anyone at the company if I don’t receive that offer. I don’t feel bad about myself.
