Spring Training Update: Boston Red Sox Dismisses 2 Key Players Due to…

even though Opening Day is quickly approaching, a surprisingly large number of elite free agents are still up for grabs.
Six-time All-Star J.D. Martinez has undoubtedly emerged as one of baseball’s best offensive free agents this winter. It appeared possible that he may rejoin the Los Angeles Dodgers at the start of the offseason, but that possibility vanished the moment they acquired two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani.
Despite hitting 33 home runs, driving in 103 runs, and receiving his sixth All-Star selection with Los Angeles last season, Martinez has been searching for his next opportunity and is still available.

The Los Angeles Angels are apparently seeking the former Boston Red Sox standout, who will probably sign shortly, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
“Rumors were circulating after (Blake Snell) posted the famed eyeball emoji on his Instagram account that the Angels may be the ones making progress,” Heyman stated. But from what I could see, the parties are conversing. In actuality, they are discussing Snell as well as J.D. Martinez, the designated hitter.”
Over the past ten years, Martinez has emerged as one of baseball’s top offensive players, and any team in need of a designated hitter can definitely benefit from his services. Before joining, he played with the Red Sox for five seasons and was nominated for four All-Star games.

After losing Ohtani this summer, Los Angeles could definitely use someone like Martinez, so it wouldn’t be shocking if the team completed a deal soon.
