A youth movement on the defensive line may result in the departure of a few key experienced players from the Philadelphia Eagles defense. In addition to Haason Reddick, the Eagles are also trying to shop for a second defensive end.

Reddick has been given clearance by the Eagles to pursue a trade, as was previously mentioned on GH. Reddick requested a significant contract extension in 2022 after having a 16-sack campaign. In the 2023 season, he added 11 sacks to his breakout campaign.

The Eagles must make adjustments to their linebacker and secondary spots this offseason since they are limited in their cap room. The Eagles selected defensive end Nolan Smith and defensive lineman Jalen Carter with their first-round selections in April of last year. Next season, they need their young players to step up as pass rushers.

Sweat was chosen by the Eagles in the 2018 NFL Draft’s fourth round. The Philadelphia defensive end, who is slated for the 2021 Pro Bowl, has 35 sacks in his career. In 2023, he had two forced fumbles and 6.5 sacks with the Eagles. In the 2022 season, when the Eagles won the Super Bowl, sweat produced 11 sacks.

Reddick and Sweat should have a healthy market. Since Sweat is three years younger than Reddick, he will probably receive more aggressive trade requests at 26. Several teams, including the Cowboys, are allegedly interested in Reddick. Nevertheless, Super Bowl contenders with little cap space this summer may find it challenging to pull the trigger on any prospective trade given Reddick’s cost and age.
