Eagles Legendary combat veteran, Jason Kelce Announces His Retirement  after Suffering From a Severe…

The Philadelphia Eagles are currently rearranging their roster. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team has opted to release cornerback Avonte Maddox as part of their offseason reorganization. The 27-year-old had a $9.6 million salary cap hit for 2024 after playing with the Eagles for six seasons. But there’s a small catch.
Schefter reports that Maddox and the team will keep talking, and that both parties are interested in getting back together.

The cornerback’s ailments are the main subject of the constant narrative that surrounds him. Maddox’s health has caused him to miss a considerable number of games during the last two seasons.
After suffering a pectoral muscle injury in Week 2, Maddox was limited to playing in only four games the previous season. In the 2022–2023 Eagles season, the defensive back made nine appearances in the regular season. Furthermore, during his first three years as an Eagle, he has missed a number of games.

Maddox finished the regular season with 250 combined tackles (191 solo and 59 assisted), 32 interception yards, 31 passes defended, and eight forced fumbles while playing for Philadelphia. The former Pittsburgh Panther finished the postseason with 39 total tackles (ten assisted, 29 solo), and four passes defensed.
In Super Bowl LVII, Maddox made an appearance and led the defense with seven stops, six of which were solo.

Even if he might not be with the Eagles anymore, the ongoing discussions suggest that a new deal with Philadelphia might be signed soon. However, nothing is set in stone just yet, and with the free agency window approaching, it’s possible that Avonte Maddox will be playing for a different team in the upcoming campaign.
