A $80.5 Million Deal Has Been Agreed Between CJ Stroud Key Player And…

QB CJ Stroud, who won the Rookie of the Year title in his rookie year, contributed to the Houston Texans’ rise to prominence. Stroud wasn’t the only Texan to have a standout 2023 campaign, either.
Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn of Houston has been given a three-year, $15.9 million contract extension, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. With this agreement, Fairbairn will be signed by the only NFL team he has ever known before free agency formally begins.

After making 27 of 28 field goal tries in 2023—the only miss coming from a distance of 50 yards or more—Fairbairn was awarded a new contract. During his seven-year career, he had the greatest kicking percentage of 96.4. In addition, Fairbairn made 21 of his 22 extra point tries, and 63.8 percent of his kickoffs resulted in a touchback, which is the second-highest percentage in his career.

Having taken over as Houston’s kicker in 2017, the Texans wanted to make sure the position wouldn’t require any adjustments. Fairbairn has made 175 of 201 field goals and 206 of 223 extra point attempts since joining the squad. Since his debut season, he has not failed to make a kick from inside 29 yards. Fairbairn has also only missed three of his eighteen attempts from 50 yards or more since 2021.

The Texans’ offseason strategy will revolve around CJ Stroud more and more. He is the quarterback of choice and a player who can take Houston to unprecedented heights in the postseason. He cannot, however, ignore the players surrounding him.
The Texans saw to it that Ka’imi Fairbairn received due recognition. He will continue to kick in Houston and attempt to lead the Texans on an even longer playoff run thanks to his new three-year contract.
