Tim Wakefield won two World Series and was a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. His widow, Stacy Wakefield, passed away.
Less than five months after her husband’s death at the age of 57, she passed away on Wednesday at her Massachusetts home, according to a statement her family released through the Red Sox. Based on internet information, Stacy was 53 years old.
The statement read, “She was surrounded by her wonderful caregivers and nurses, as well as her family and dear friends.” “The grief is unfathomable, especially considering that Tim passed away less than five months ago. We have incredibly broken hearts.

The reason of death was not disclosed by the family, however they did indicate a diagnosis. Tim Wakefield’s former Red Sox teammate Curt Schilling revealed on a podcast in September that the Wakefield brothers had received cancer diagnoses. Schilling stated that Stacy had pancreatic cancer and Tim had brain cancer. As soon as the news broke, the Wakefields received an overwhelming amount of support, and Schilling was criticized for revealing the information without their consent.
The family statement went on, “We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful, and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come.” “We are incredibly grateful that she was in our lives, and we find solace in the knowledge that she will see her true love, Tim.”
