Sean Desai, a former defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, was employed by the team for less than a year before losing his primary coaching responsibilities. Desai moved to Los Angeles a few months after being kicked out of the City of Brotherly Love. The forty-year-old has consented to become a senior defensive member of Sean McVay’s staff with the Rams. Associated content ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler broke the initial news of the hiring. Desai has only worked as a defensive coordinator for two clubs for one season. Desai’s team finished third against the pass and sixth overall in yards allowed in 2021 while playing for the Chicago Bears.

Following a Super Bowl run and top-five finish, the Connecticut native was brought in by Philadelphia to replace Jonathan Gannon after serving as a defensive coach for one season in Seattle. For Desai in Philadelphia, however, things didn’t go as planned. Due to rumors of scheme uncertainty and a lack of confidence, his defense was among the worst in the NFL in terms of yards allowed and passing touchdowns. After suffering two landslide losses to the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers late in the season, Desai was replaced by Matt Patricia.
