PORTLAND ABANDON $54.2M PLAN FOR CHAUNCEY BILLUPS HEARING AS……

The Portland Trail Blazers’ rookie season without Deandre Ayton hasn’t gone as planned. Many Portland supporters are anxious about Ayton and his enormous deal due to injuries, difficulties adjusting to a new game plan, and a youthful team.

Two weeks ago, Jason Quick of The Athletic noted that the big man’s brief stay at Oregon had been marked by “tardiness and tantrums,” which did not alleviate any of the worry. Five months after his arrival, Quick demanded that Portland exchange the previous first overall pick.

Regardless of your opinion of Quick, there’s no denying that the 25-year-old is an incredibly gifted seven-footer, and his greatest years are most likely still ahead of him.

Ayton is one of the more resilient big men in the league and has already had an impact in the NBA Finals, despite missing several games earlier in the season due to knee inflammation. Being only eighteen months into his post-rookie deal and able to develop alongside Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson, and Shaedon Sharpe, he also makes sense on the young Blazers squad.
Ayton theoretically has the skills to rank among the league’s top five centers, but it is unclear if he can carry out his potential on a regular basis.

Actually, he still has tasks to complete.
