A.J. Epenesa, a defensive end, was selected by the Buffalo Bills with a second-round choice in 2020 in the hopes that he would become a reliable pass rusher. However, his delayed breakout season in 2023 may now put the Bills in a tough situation.

Epenesa, along with several other important defensive players, will be entering free agency next month once his rookie contract expires. Despite the positive remarks made about Epenesa by head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic cautions that the Bills may not be able to afford his next contract due to his excellent play in the previous campaign.
