Red Sox Key QB Garrett Whitlock Has been Removed as QB Starter Due to….

This offseason, the Boston Red Sox farm system has achieved some impressive rankings. However, Tony Massarotti, a devoted Red Sox fan and radio host for WEEI, disagrees with a few of the stats. He even declared that the pool of potential Sox players is “overrated.”
One thing the Red Sox always need is good starting pitching. However, Boston’s farm system hardly generates any notable relievers or starting pitchers at all.
This was noted by Massarotti and others as well. Former Red Sox front office worker Zack Scott pointed out that when it comes to pitching prospects, Boston’s farm system is ranked 29th, which is next to worst.

Sox Prospects’ Ian Cundall conducted research on the Red Sox’s inferior production of homegrown, quality starting pitcher prospects in comparison to other organizations. To put it simply, they don’t select pitchers in the first round of the draft. However, things haven’t always been this way.
The Red Sox typically rely on trades or free agent signings to bolster their rotation, as they draft depth pitchers. Now that Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery are still available, Boston doesn’t seem to want to act either.Drafting pitchers in earlier rounds could have helped relieve some of the pressure on the starting rotation this year (or any year, really), regardless of the deals that haven’t been completed.
