As the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive coordinator heading into his sixth season, Steve Spagnuolo seems to be hoping this is his last.
After one of his best coaching assignments to date, Spagnuolo earned a contract extension with the Chiefs last week. Throughout the regular season, Kansas City’s defense was among the best in the NFL, and they proved it when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
In a recent interview, Spagnuolo expressed his happiness with his current position in Kansas City in an interview with Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM. The 64-year-old did, however, affirm that he would like another chance to serve as head coach in the

“I would definitely want to. Spagnuolo stated, “We’re proud guys in this business,” as Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk transcribed. When we went from Year 1 to Year 2, in that second year of 2010, had we won the final game of the season, we’re in the playoffs and hosting a playoff game against the New Orleans Saints. That wasn’t a success when I was in St. Louis, though I believe it gets lost in this. It didn’t happen, and after we entered the lockout, things didn’t proceed as planned, and we left.

From 2009 to 2011, Spagnuolo led the St. Louis Rams as their head coach. Despite inheriting a weak team that had only won five games in the two previous seasons combined, he went 10-38 in three seasons. Recently, even one of Spagnuolo’s former supervisors acknowledged that the coach wasn’t given a fair chance.
