UPDATE: Eagles Head coach NICK SIRIANNI Explains Why he Demoted…
ESPN.com’s Tim McManus tweets that Bobby King, a former inside linebackers coach with the Titans, is joining the Philly staff. Brian Callahan did not keep King, but he did keep a few of Mike Vrabel’s assistants. Azeez Al-Shaair, a free agent acquired by the Titans, recorded the most tackles (163) of any player throughout the team’s 25-year history under King’s tutelage in the previous season.
Here’s what’s new from the ranks of coaches:
Deshea Townsend, who was fired by the Jaguars last month as their defensive pass-game coordinator, has another position lined up. The former NFL cornerback is joining the Lions in the same role, according to a tweet from Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. Townsend, who played for the Steelers for 12 years and won two Super Bowls, has been coaching since retiring in 2011. Townsend coached defensive backs for the Bears, Giants, Titans, and Cardinals before spending two years in Jacksonville. DBs coach Brian Duker was recently traded by the Lions to the Dolphins.
Mike Pettine will play a more defined role in Minnesota this season after serving as the senior defensive assistant for the Vikings for the previous two years. The former Browns head coach and seasoned defensive end will lead the Vikings’ outside linebackers in 2024, the team announced.
