“JPA Football posted to X on Tuesday, stating that Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson wants to know the team’s quarterbacking plans before committing to a long-term contract, per #TomPelissero.” Jefferson has expressed his desire for Kirk Cousins to remain in Minnesota on several occasions.Despite Jefferson’s outspoken support for Cousins, the wide receiver recently made comments implying he could be willing to play with a different quarterback.
“It might be Kirk, it might not be Kirk,” NFL.com quoted Jefferson as saying on February 8. “I don’t know, but you know I’m going to be that same kind of player regardless of who throws me that ball.”
Jefferson is hard to argue against on that premise. During his first few years in the league, he broke numerous records and was named to the Pro Bowl several times. In 2022, he was named to the first team of All-Pros. Despite missing seven games last season, Jefferson still managed to score five touchdowns and accumulate 1,074 receiving yards, according to Pro Football Reference.
